    Description

Spalding Commemorative MOONBALL -in box - Astronaut Alan B. Shepard - Feb. 6, 1971.
It's a stocking stuffer or just a fun item for the avid golfer. The box is intact but worn. The golf ball is clean and as new. [See photos.]
    From the Internet:
Apollo 14 Commander Allan B. Shepard took a few moments during the Apollo 14 landing to show off his hobby during a live broadcast from the lunar surface on Feb. 6, 1971. He took two shots, with the second ball going "miles and miles," he said on-camera.
He and his crew brought back about 90 pounds of moon rocks.  Left behind were two golf balls that Shepard, who later described the moon's surface as “one big sand trap,” hit with a makeshift 6-iron to become a footnote in history.
    Collectors Weekly states:
This ball was issued by Spalding to commemorate the event. Commander Shepard was not the average hacker.
