    Circa 1880S Antique RARE MOLDED GOLF BALL GUTTA PERCHA CONCENTRIC CIRCLES Offered at auction is a rare, very early (ca 1880s) molded golf ball. It is just over an inch and a half in diameter. It has a series of concentric circles 1mm apart, There is a center mid-rib that is higher than the concentric circles, characteristic of the mold process, and there appears to be red paint imbetween the ribs. The ball bounces "softly," indicating that it is rubber/gutta percha. The ball has not been cleaned. However, it is in good condition, with no evidence of cuts or dings that would be found if the ball had been used or played, and there are no age cracks, but there may be tiny flea bites on the ribs.
